Sif Netherlands to supply foundations for Baltyk II and III offshore wind farms

Norway’s Equinor and Poland’s Polenergia Group have signed final agreements with the foundation supplier for the Baltyk II and Baltyk III offshore wind farms. The Dutch company SIF Netherlands B.V. will manufacture 100 monopiles for both projects.

The contracts are for 100 monopile foundations for wind turbines, 50 units for each project.
for each of the projects. Production is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2025.

“The signing of the final contract for the production of foundations for our Baltyk II and Baltyk III wind farms brings us closer to the final investment decision. The wind farms, planned for 2027, will be among the first in the Polish sea. Their commissioning will be crucial for national energy security, providing stable renewable energy for more than 2 million households in Poland,” says Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, CEO of Equinor in Poland.

The implementation phase of the Baltyk II and Baltyk III projects will begin once all construction elements have been contracted, the necessary permits have been obtained and the final investment decision has been made. The two wind farms, with a total capacity of 1440 MW, will be located in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone in the Baltic Sea, approximately 37 km and 22 km from the coast.

“The Baltyk II and Baltyk III offshore wind farms are becoming a reality. Most of the major contracts for both projects have already been secured. This is a huge acceleration in the realisation of our offshore investments and a very important positive signal for our investors. We have already planned to have 100 wind turbines in operation by 2027. Today we are taking a very important step towards realising these plans. We have a common goal – to realise the great potential of renewable energy that lies dormant in our country. The Baltic projects will do this by providing green energy to millions of Polish households. This is yet another proof that Polenergia is the fastest developing energy group in Poland today”, says Dr Michał Michalski, President of the Management Board of Polenergia S.A.

SIF Netherlands B.V. has global experience in the supply of components for offshore wind farms. The contract with the company is expected to be implemented by the end of 2026. The first energy from the Baltyk II and III wind farms is expected to flow in 2027. The commercial phase of their operation is planned from 2028.

In the next phase of offshore wind energy development in Poland, Equinor and Polenergia are developing the Baltyk I project. The offshore wind farm, with a capacity of up to 1560 MW, will be located approximately 80 km from the coast. The projects jointly developed by Equinor and Polenergia are a very important part of Poland’s energy transition.
