Tylko u nas

On September 19, 2024, the second session of Knowledge-to-Knowledge Program (K2K Program), as a part of the LinkedbyOffshoreWind partnership, was held at the Maritime University of Gdynia. This meeting titled ‘Creating a Knowledge Ecosystem” was aimed at exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of offshore wind energy between industry experts and representatives of Polish universities.

Five universities have been invited to participate in the K2K Program, and the host of both the first and second sessions was the Maritime University of Gdynia.

The lecture was delivered by Piet Warnaar from the Dutch Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and Elro van den Burg from LinkedbyOffshoreWind. The discussions focused on building an effective knowledge ecosystem that can accelerate the development of offshore wind energy in Poland. Experts shared their experiences in integrating scientific research with practical solutions, which is crucial for education and innovation in this dynamically developing industry.

During the session, special attention was paid to the role of international cooperation in developing offshore wind technology. In the workshop the experts presented several models and best practices from the Netherlands on how to bring the public and private sector as well as the knowledge institutions together to create clusters that can tackle problems or approach the foreign market together.

The meeting was also an excellent opportunity to further establish cooperation between Polish universities and international partners, which aims to support the development of offshore wind energy in Poland which can ultimately lead to high certainty for project developers, increased investor confidence and lower overall costs.

“Initiatives like this K2K program support the key role that academic institutions play in the global development of offshore wind energy, contributing to the energy transformation in Europe,” according to Frank van de Pieterman of the Economic Department of the Embassy of the Netherlands.

“We are glad that as Dutch Embassy we can play a facilitating role, through the public-private partnership LinkedByOffshoreWind.”
